Flat Broke Newbie Get’s Out of Debt and Becomes His Own Boss!

July 7th, 2009 Karl Foxley 1 comment

I like a good story! Especially when it is about a life-changing experience.

What I like even more about the story I’m going to share with you today, is the fact that this guy changed his life using the power of the Internet!

Introducing Dean Holland

8 month’s ago Dean had nothing. I’m talking a flat broke guy that had got himself into a financially ruined mess!

In fact trying to figure out how to build a successful online business he racked up a serious $59,000 on credit cards and loans! Like I say that was about 8 month’s ago and, well, today things have changed in a BIG way!

You see what you must know is I have closely followed this guys journey and I have seen him come from having no website, no email list and painfully no income! However in just the last few month’s he has made nearly $20,000 online. He now has an email list that grows every single day.

Get this, just last week I witnessed this guy make $11,000 in just 1 weekend sending just a few emails to his subscribers! But the BIG ONE... he just quit his job to be his own boss!

What does this prove ? Why have I told you this? Quite simply because if a guy that bad in debt, starting online with nothing can crack the system then SO CAN YOU! All it takes is to be shown the EXACT way to build a business online and the precise tactics to use to make a stack of cash with it.

We ALL have to be taught at some stage before we can actually succeed!

What makes Dean different to a lot of the guys making a decent income from the Internet is that he is NOW! He didn’t make his wealth 10 years ago flipping websites, he didn’t do it 5 years ago with Adsense, he didn’t even do it 1 year ago with Social Media, he did it yesterday and he is doing it today! He is doing the things that work right NOW!

Dean has decided to reveal how he got out of debt, gave up his day job and now works from home as his own boss!

His course is suitably titled, Starting With Marketing and you can find out more information by heading over to the site and take a look at Dean has to say for himself and how the training can help you do exactly what he has done; if he can do it so can you!

How To Increase Your Productivity: 3 Tips To Make Working From Home Work For You.

How To Increase Your Productivity: 3 Tips To Make Working From Home Work For You.businessman-working-from-home

Working from home is an amazing transition to make in life. I love the fact that I can take my daughter to school in the morning and then get home and spend from 9.30 am to 3.00 pm working on my business. I then spend a few hours on the school run and spend some quality time with my family. I work in the evening if I choose and I’m very fortunate that it is a choice (sometimes I work until the early hours of the morning due to the benefits of having insmonia) ;)

The downside to working from home is that it is easy to be distracted; the phone ringing, the knock at the door, a friend ‘popping’ in for a quick chat. You see, if you are easily distracted you will find your productivity will suffer when you make the step of working from home. I have implemented a few strategies into my daily working routine that have really benefitted me and I hope they do the same for you.

1. Start your day with an agenda; set goals.

I start my day with a list of at least 3 things that I want to achieve. The list should only have things that are important for growing your business. My list for today included:

  • Write an article and submit it to an article directory
  • Write a press release and submit it to a press release service
  • Update content for my private membership site (exclusive to my small business coaching clients)

I set three targets and give myself an hour for each. I then visit the Online Stopwatch Countdown Timer and set the timer to countdown for 60 minutes. You’ll get a real buzz for beating the timer and completing the goal you set yourself. Take a break and then come back and tackle goal two in the same manner.! Completed your list: well done, make a new list and start again. This simple tip will really explode your productivity.

2.  Set aside dedicated time for social networking, email and phone calls.

I was guilty of this one myself, I’d pop onto Twitter and Facebook and get chatting (telling myself I’m networking and building relationships). My Instant Messenger would pop up and I’d respond and then my Skype line would ring… and then it would be the end of the day and I wondered why I didn’t get much done.

Close down everything when you are working and only have what you need open. Your email can wait, unplug the phone, if it’s important they will call back. I set aside twenty minutes in the morning for Twitter, Facebook and catching up with email. I set out some more time around 2.30 pm for half an hour where I respond to the emails that I need to respond to. Remember, you are running a business and not a hobby, you will reap the rewards of how you work.

3. Set up systems

I recommend putting as many systems into your working day as possible. I have my email client (Mozilla ThunderBird) to download emails into specific folders. I have also have folders entitled ‘action’, ‘important’ and ‘archive’. I put all emails that I need to take action on by the end of the day into the ‘action’  folder. I put all emails that are important but do not require immediate attention into the ‘important’ folder. Lastly, I put all emails that I need for future reference into the ‘Archives’ folder; everything else gets deleted.

I also automate as much of my working day as I can. A good example of this is how I keep in touch with my email subcribers. I have multiple lists for different services and products so contacting everyone with a single message can be very time consuming. I now use Aweber to handle this for me and I haven’t looked back. I use Aweber to send out scheduled newsletters and promotions to my database at schedule intervals. Aweber allows me to sit and write months worth of newletters in one go and set them to go out weekly, fortnightly or whatever I specify. You need this in your business!

I recommend that you take some time to sit down and figure out the systems and strategies that work best for you and your business. You need to make the decision to make working from home work for you by reducing background noise and disturbances, setting clear goals and automating as much as you can. Also, make your friends and family aware of your set working times and encourage them to not disturb you; they’ll understand!

Do you have a productivity tip, strategy or automation tactic that you use and recommend, share it here!

To your more productive home business and success,

Karl
